- True. But is also true that you have to keep a close eye on the substitutes
- for your product and anticipate new product curves by enhancing your product.
- So if you want to maintain profits you have to keep ahead of the substitutes
- for your product in some meaningfull way. Either you do that by being able to
- produce your product for significantly less than the competition or by being
- sufficiently better in some qualitative way. Some people still maintain that
- the amiga os gives the amiga the qualitative edge and that is enough for AT to
- maintain a business. Others feel that this is not enough and more should be
- done.

-
- What would help is if the would post prices in US funds, that is what people

-
- The amiga needs market share, holding to the past will have the effect of
- keeping current users but disinteresting others.

-
- Let's not and say we did. :)
-
- : This may be true for some, but MANY people are 'impulse buyers'. I bought my
- : first A500 on a lark. Was walking thru a shopping center and saw a ball
- : bouncing on a screen in a Software,Etc store. Went in, played a little, and
- : took the thing home. Even being a long time C64, C128, etc fanatic ... I did
- : not make the C= connection until I took everything out of the box at home!
-
- Nobody inpulsively drops $500+, certainly not the market AT has to target with
- the low end.
-
- C64 fanatic eh? I see. :)
-
- : >called) - And Interviews in Amiga mags don`t exactly get read by newbies do
- : >they?
-
- : Yes, they do! Do YOU read any PC mags? Nuff said!!
-
- Amiga mags don't get read by anybody but newbies as far as I am concerned.
- Anyone on the net probably wouldn't. I gave up when they stopped running
- programming/hardware articles, although every now and then I check out mail
- order prices.
-
- : I will ALWAYS agree with constructive, positive feedback that would help

-
- I always agree with constructive feedback, positive or negative. :)
-
- : >3) AT made it clear that any profits from AT Internet went straight into R&D.
-
- : And now, folks, we want to control the profits that Amiga Technologies makes
- : too? :)
-
- Nobody knows if AT are making a profit or not.
-
- : PC's are being sold just above cost because of the strong competition and
- : the flooded market conditions. This is NOT yet the case for the Amiga!
-
- The PC is an amiga substitute, witness the amounts of amiga owners who went PC.
- Asserting that the amiga doesn't need to consider the PC as a competitor is too
- optomistic for me.
-
- : How many times will we go thru this? First, everyone here is appalled that
- : Amiga Technologies will NOT sell Amiga's thru Escom stores. Then, we are
- : appalled that the Escom people don't know anything about the Amiga, yet may
- : be selling them. You and Eric can't have it BOTH ways!!!
-
- I don't care where AT sells amigas as long as they are not presented as junk on
- a counter somewhere.
-
- : Then YOU need to get one!!! I'll fumble along with whatever Amiga
- : Technologies gives us. I'd certainly hate to 'cramp your style' any. :)
-
- Papa knows best eh?
-
- :>anyone else, but I`m not in any way interested in buying any of their products
- :>at the moment until something comes along that`s WORTH buying...
-
- : Then don't ... but don't try and stop those who might with all the gloom and
- : doom stuff!
-
- An opinion about the status of the amiga is not gloom and doom just because it
- is not a glowing pink review of AT. Begging AT to keep making the same old
- thing is not paticularly edifying.
